NETSCREEN SECURITY SYSTEM WINS NETWORK MAGAZINE PRODUCT OF THE YEAR AWARD IN FIREWALL/VPN CATEGORY

Sunnyvale, Calif. (May 9, 2002) NetScreen Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: NSCN), a leading developer of ASIC-based Internet security systems and appliances, was awarded the Network Magazine Product of the Year Award in the firewall/VPN category in a ceremony last night at Networld + Interop Las Vegas.

　　The award went to the NetScreen-1000, an integrated security system, which was the industry’s first gigabit security solution. NetScreen’s security systems are designed to meet the security needs of the most demanding enterprise and service provider environments. The NetScreen-1000 integrates firewall and VPN, and now offers customers 2 gigabit per second firewall throughput.

　　Network Magazine’s annual Product of the Year Award is recognized as one of the networking industry’s longest-running awards programs. “The Product of the Year Awards have become an industry tradition and are eagerly anticipated each year by Network Magazine readers,” said Editor-in-Chief Steve Steinke. “Through an extensive research and review process, the editors select the most innovative and significant hardware, software, and service offerings to hit the market in 2001.”

　　The Product of the Year Award winners are featured in the May 2002 issue of Network Magazine. The awards ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 8, during Networld + Interop Spring 2002 in Las Vegas.
